Sunday School Opportunities - Sundays 9:45-10:45 am
|
Elementary Sunday School
classes by age group (3 years old through sixth grade) are held from 9:45 to 10:45 am every Sunday. Our children learn about their faith through weekly activities, teaching, music, and special events. We use both Exploring Faith and Live BIG United Methodist curriculum in our highly interactive classes. Our children traditionally study the Old Testament in the fall, leading toward the thrilling story of Jesus birth. During Advent we have special, rotation-style classes studying the prophecies of Isaiah and learning through drama, art, cooking and games. We finish with a birthday party for Jesus. After Christmas we study our New Testament stories. With our studies on a four-year cycle, every four years the children will have been taught wide array of the entire Bible. Our sixth graders prepare for confirmation through extensive familiarization with our Bible.

Confirmation Class

Youth Sunday School
classes are for grades 8 through 12. We have high school class at 9:45 AM and from 11 AM to noon every Sunday.

8th Grade Class
this fall are exploring the life and teaching of Jesus. We play games, act out plays, watch videos, and solve puzzles to discover what Jesus can teach us today. The eighth grade is on mission of discovery and sharing what we believe about Jesus. As we enter the new year, we will explore other books in the New Testament as we undertake the mission that Christ has for us in our world (home, school, play and church) today.

Senior High 9:45 am class
explores contemporary issues for Christian youth.
|
|
Senior High 11:00 am class
looks at these issues: How do I share my faith with my friends? What does it take to be a true witness to Jesus Christ? Is there more than one way to God? Why do pictures of Jesus always show a handsome white male? What do Christians believe versus other religions? Do I have to work hard to get to heaven? The answers are in the Bible and when we want to know what God wants, we reach for His Word. There is even the occasional video skit from the Skit Guys. No problem is too tough for God. Whatever is challenging in the lives of young people today is fair game for discussion. To address all topics, we always seek His answer through the Bible, the Holy Spirit, and a lot of prayer.

Chapel Bible Class
focuses on making the Bible relevant to living in today’s world. The class is taught on a rotational basis. You do not need to be familiar with the Bible. The only study guide is the Bible. Progress is not based on getting through the material in a particular time, but rather reflecting and learning what each passage has to say to contemporary believers. In 2006 we are studying the book of Revelations. Prayer and sharing are key to our fellowship. Please come and be a part of the Chapel Class. Place: Chapel Building Sanctuary

Kitchen Class
continues to be a small group discussion circle that follows studies that strengthen our faith and help adults of all ages navigate the ups and downs of daily living. Our next study, Laugh Again, by Charles Swindoll speaks to all busy, joy-drained people—from the pressured businessman to the harried homemaker. Readers will discover ways to live in the present, say no to negativism and realize that, while no one’s life is perfect, joy and humor can be inspirational. All are welcome to join the Kitchen Class. We kick off each session with coffee and goodies. It’s the kind of class you can start any time, and don’t have to feel badly if you can’t have perfect attendance. Place: Chapel Building.
