Our Goals for 2008
Inviting
- Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment
- Promote Sydenstricker as a place that celebrates God’s gifts of life and love through Jesus Christ
- Identify potential members and actively invite them using targeted strategies
Forming
- Help people form a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and provide an environment for maintaining the indwelling of the Holy Spirit
- Provide worship opportunities that are designed for God’s children of all ages
- Enhance fellowship opportunities for all God’s children that lead them to know God through loving, caring relationships
- Strengthen education programs providing Biblically-based opportunities throughout the week for God’s children of all ages
Equipping
- Ensure vital and relevant programs keep all members connected to Christ
- Increase participation in Christian growth and maturity activities
- Provide the congregation with skills and strategies for effective personal witness
- Increase understanding of and opportunities for stewardship
- Increase awareness of mission opportunities and education
- Increase awareness of social justice issues (concerns)
Sending
- Share the good news of Christ’s love in the world
- Increase participation in Evangelism, Missions and Social Justice activities
Our Targets for 2008
- Bring in 40 new members.
- Increase average worship attendance by 30 people per weekend.
- Increase Sunday school membership by 15 people.
- Increase participation in all non-Sunday morning education programs.
- Continue to mature a comprehensive hospitality program, including a Welcome Center, education/training and the expanded Coffee/Conversation time.
- Promote opportunities for active participation in SUMC, local, state, regional and national/ international missions.
- Enhance and broaden the communications of the congregation for outreach and programsin four areas:
- Electronic – News From The Pews and web site
- Print media
- Bulletin boards
- Pulpit/Oral
- Regularly celebrate SUMC accomplishments and “positives”, including Church supported Scout activities, during worship Services at council meetings and outgoing electronic and paper communication.
- Explore additional 11:00 AM Sunday school classes
